A Message From Gamma Phi Beta’s president

Hello & welcome, everyone!

My name is Sofia Zimkowski and I am so beyond excited and proud to have the honor of serving as the 2026 Gamma Phi Beta Chapter President at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo! Back in fall of 2023, I was a potential new member with hopes of finding her home away from home. I went in feeling excited, nervous, and reminding myself that the best thing I could do was be myself, because that is the only true way to find the best place for you! I remember feeling so excited every time I walked into a new house on that first day of recruitment. The Panhellenic Community at Cal Poly, SLO is truly something so incredibly special. When I went to Gamma Phi Beta on that first day, I ended up talking to a GPhi active member who made me feel so at ease, made me feel seen, and made me feel at home. This active member would later become my big! She is someone that I look up to everyday as a model of GPhi personified.

Gamma Phi Beta's pillars are Love, Labor, Learning, and Loyalty. I am so proud to represent an organization that is filled with women who portray and embody these pillars to the fullest every day. My Gamma Phi Beta sisters inspire and encourage me everyday. This chapter and this community have given me so much. I have had the blessing of true community, friendships that inspire me to challenge myself and remind me to give myself grace, encourage and motivate me to continue with new ideas, and arguably the most important gift: a place that I feel most myself in. A place that promotes love for oneself, others and our community.

Our international philanthropy is Girls On the Run, where we practice our motto of Building Strong Girls! This promotes the aspect and gift of sisterhood from an early age. Being able to represent this philanthropy is a beautiful reminder of supporting one another through all aspects of life: social, mental wellbeing, and more. Our chapter also has a local awareness project titled: The Daisy Project. This is centered around awareness of mental health, more specifically mental health of college students and how important it is to have community.

My university experience would not be the same without this sorority, and I am so grateful for the gift of Gamma Phi Beta. This chapter filled with members who come from all over the country, majoring in fields of study varying across all colleges on campus, and with personalities that are kind, empathic, bold, and driven, is what makes it so special and what makes me so proud to be Chapter President of Gamma Phi Beta.

Whether you are a potential new member, a sister stopping by, a future Cal Poly student, or maybe even a future friend, if we haven't already, we are thrilled to meet you and welcome you into our home during recruitment! We are so excited share what makes our sisterhood of Gamma Phi so special and what makes it feel like home!

All my love,

— President Sofia Zimkowski

Scholarship Opportunites

Scholarships are a valuable resource to help ease the financial commitment of Panhellenic membership. A variety of options are available to support members with dues and related expenses, making sorority life more accessible and affordable.

Available Scholarship Opportunities:

  • Chapter Scholarships: Individual chapters offer scholarships, such as but not limited to need-based or merit-based scholarships to active members. These awards are funded through chapter fundraising efforts or alumni donations and are designed to directly offset member dues.

  • National Organization Scholarships: National sorority organizations often provide scholarships such as but not limited to, academic achievement, leadership involvement, and financial need. These awards may assist with chapter dues, housing costs, or overall educational expenses.

  • Panhellenic Scholarships: The Panhellenic Council offers campus-wide scholarships to members of any affiliated chapter. These scholarships typically recognize leadership, academic excellence, community involvement, and demonstrated financial need. Scholarships vary by quarter, visit our scholarship tab for more information.

Together, these opportunities help ensure that finances do not stand in the way of sisterhood, leadership development, and the full sorority experience.
