A Message From Alpha Phi’s president
Welcome to Alpha Phi at Cal Poly SLO!
My name is Sharlize Moayedi, and I am so excited you’ve found your way to our page. Serving as Chapter President of Alpha Phi is one of the greatest honors of my college experience, and I feel beyond grateful to introduce you to the Epsilon Chi chapter; a sisterhood built on love, leadership, and lifelong connection.
Alpha Phi at Cal Poly is built on the guiding principles of our Founders: generosity, innovation, character, and a lifelong bond of sisterhood. These pillars shape our culture, guide our leadership, and define the way we show up for one another and our community. We are a chapter of driven, compassionate, and dynamic women who are committed to growing individually while standing united together.
College is a time filled with excitement and possibility, but it can also bring uncertainty as you search for your place and your people. When I went through recruitment three years ago, I was looking for belonging. The moment I walked into Alpha Phi, I felt a sense of warmth and authenticity that set this chapter apart. What makes Epsilon Chi truly special is the strength and character of our members. Our women are leaders across campus: in academics, athletics, student organizations, and professional development; but what stands out most is how they lead. They lead with kindness. They lead with integrity. They lead with heart. In Alpha Phi, success is celebrated collectively, challenges are faced together, and individuality is embraced. We are confident in who we are, while always encouraging each other to become even better.
We proudly support the Alpha Phi Foundation, where we advocate for women’s heart health. Spreading awareness is so important, not just for us, but for women everywhere. Through signature events like our Alpha Phifa soccer tournament, Hoops for Hearts basketball tournament, or Red Dress Gala, we bring together the Cal Poly and Greek communities to raise funds and turn passion into action.
Our chapter’s excellence is also reflected in the recognition we have received. We have been honored with awards such as Excellence in Community Service and Philanthropy and Excellence in Safety & Risk Management at Cal Poly, along with national recognition for Outstanding Recruitment and Outstanding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the past two years.
Serving as Chapter President has allowed me to witness firsthand the depth of this sisterhood. I have watched women step confidently into leadership roles, support each other through life’s highs and lows, and form friendships that will last far beyond their college years. Alpha Phi has given me mentors, role models, future bridesmaids, and lifelong best friends.
If you are considering recruitment, I encourage you to approach it with an open heart. The right chapter will challenge you, support you, and inspire you to become the best version of yourself. For so many of us, Alpha Phi has been exactly that. It is a place where women are empowered to use their voices, pursue their ambitions, and build meaningful, lasting connections. I am endlessly proud to represent the women of Alpha Phi at Cal Poly. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our chapter. I hope this gives you a glimpse into the genuine, empowering, and loving sisterhood that defines Epsilon Chi. Wherever your journey leads, I hope you find a place that feels like home; for so many of us, that place has been Alpha Phi.
With lots of love and AOE,
— President Sharlize Moayedi
